suargyle/clay layer Explanation: Hi Silke, the suargyle is reality clay, and me-thinking, it is the same with sub-clay layers for the dams (see: www.crisp.nus.edu.sg/~acrs2001/pdf/349GUO.pdf and also the two links below). This is in reality a term derived from the Latin language. In Albanian you will see for example rërë, surërë, argjilë dhe suargjilë (http://www.qkzh.org/pdf/raporti final_basenet.pdf) and the difference between these materials is the compactness level of the material, and as a consequence, of their role as well. Here http://www-civ.eng.cam.ac.uk/geotech_new/publications/trs.ht... there are many publications regarding civil engineering and geo-technical studies where suargyle or clay layer is explained and analyzed. Also the link below mentions it as a material, but not in connection with dams and other large infrastructure. |
