Medical
Arabic term or phrase: حوالى أسبوعين إلى 6 أسابيع
There's a question that goes something like this: How long does it take from exposure (to a certain disease) to displaying the symptoms of illness?
The answer was: 'About 2 to 6 weeks",
would you say:
حوالى أسبوعين إلى 6 أسابيع
OR
حوالى أسبوعان إلى 6 أسابيع

نحو أسـبوعين إلى سـتّة أسـابيع
Explanation:
حوالى is not good Arabic, although it is commonly used for "approximately." If you feel you must use it in this sentence, then it will function as a preposition and should be treated as such, but you have better alternatives.

The "Dictionary of Common Language Errors and their Corrections" has this to say:

يقولون خطأً عندي حوالى ألف كتاب، والأعلى من ذلك عندي نحو ألف كتاب

فعندما نقول قعدنا حوالي الشيء أو حواله أو حوله أو حوليه أو أحواله فإننا نعني الجهات المحيطة به

أما كلمة نحو فمن معانيها المقدار والقصد والطريق والجهة

End of quote.
