I am very sorry for this confusion. I double checked the grammar book. The case is as follows:
تأتي همزة القطع في أول الفعل الماضي الرباعي وأمره ومصدره
وبما أن الفعل هو (أدلى) في الماضي، فأن الأمر منه سوف يكون (أدل)
