This is taken from a book by Ibnul-Jawzi:
قال الخطابي: الشح أبلغ من البخل فهو بمنزلة الجنس و البخل بمنزلة النوع
و قال بعضهم البخل أن يضن بماله و الشح أن يبخل بماله و معروفه
I translated شح as parsimony and بخل as stinginess, but I'm not sure whether or not the word أبلغ means worse. Also جنس and نوع do you think they can be translated as sort and kind??

because لجنس and النوع are logic terms where the former is more general than the latter. For example, we say
جنس البشر
النوع ذكر أو أنثى
Anyhow, I prefere transliteration for the word شح

agree  Nesrin: or "more generic", as in linguistics a "hypernym"(e.g flower) is a term defined as more generic than a "hyponym" (e.g rose). الجنس والنوع in biology are "genus and species", so she can say "is the equivalent of genus etc). I agree w transliteration of شح.
