In some areas in the Arab world it is referred to as: "ميكانك الموائع" which I personally think is more accurate. But yes, the term you gave is used in that sense. Check website below.

Fluid Mechanics as Alaa rightly pointed out, and please check the web connection below where the word \"موانع\" is used. I have seen it in more than website. But, I agree, \"موائع\" is the more common one.

agree  Fuad Yahya: Assuming the word is الموائع, not الموانع. Otherwise, it would be "barrier mechanics." Check the context or verify with your client or agency.
