Law/Patents
Catalan term or phrase: cautxu, goma
These two words appear in a list of a trademark register under class 17. Should they both be translated as "rubber" or are there two separate English terms?

rubber
Explanation:
rub-ber n.
1. Also called india rubber, natural rubber, gum elastic, caoutchouc. a highly elastic, light cream or dark amber colored, solid substance polymerized by the drying and coagulation of the latex or milky juice of rubber trees and plants esp. Hevea and Ficus species, containing the group
<-CH2-C=(CH3)CHCH2>n.

2. a material made by chemically treating and toughening this substance, used in the manufacture of erasers, electrical insulation, elastic bands, crepe soles, toys, water hose, tires and many other products.

3. any of various similar substances and materials made sinthetically.

I would translate it as "rubber" in both cases. If you want to make a distinction than I would go for:

cautxu = natural ruber (raw material)- sometimes called also "red rubber"

rubber, gum

Explanation:
Re-Hola. Class 17: link below specifies rubber and gum independently from each other. Again, there must be a good reason why they're featured separately in the original. Check link to make sure. Cheers :-)
