Sarta, Sherta

Catalan to English translations [Non-PRO]
Catalan term or phrase: Sarta, Sherta
Two citations, which make me suspect this may be the same name (of a Berber tribe) transcibed two different ways:
"Other tribes, moving between Audaghost and Sijilmassa, are mentioned: Sarta, Samsata, and the Banu Massufah."
"What appear in the first Arab texts on the Sahara and Ghana are groups unambiguously referred to, in the Sahara, in terms of genealogical collectives -Sanhajah, Massufah, Sherta, Samsata ..."
Is this the same group? How should the name(s) be transcribed?
