Od 1550. Livno je i formalno evidentirano kao kasaba.

grad koji broji do nekih 150.000 stanovnika (otprilike)
Livno je u odredjenom trenutku dobilo status gradskog podrucja, dakle, razlicito od sela, a razlicito i od grada u smislu city.

Livno je do tog momenta kad je proglaseno kasabom vjerovatno imalo status mahale - ovo bi se dalo provjeriti u Andricevoj "Na Drini Cuprija" ili "Travnickoj hronici"

Sarajevo se u tursko vrijeme zvalo SEHER (grad, u smislu city) pored toga su postojale kasabe (kao npr: Travnik, Livno itd.)i postojale su mahale (sela - villages).

U engleskom jeziku se takodjer pravi razlika:
City - grad
Town - grad(ic) u zvanicnim tekstovima necete napisati gradic vec grad, ali se razlika izmedju city i town pravi po broju stanovnika.
village, selo

Zagreb je city
Virovitica je town
Podravski je village.
ili

Split je city
Sibenik je town
Kastel Stafilic je village

Isti slucaj i u vasem primjeru Livna

Možda je dobro zadržati termin kasaba, jer se u kontekstu i navodi da je Livno bilo formalno evidentirano kao kasaba.
Teško da bismo u 16. stoljeću mogli govoriti o gradovima i gradićima u današnjem smislu. To je bila samo malo veća nakupina kuća.
