I don't think there's one right answer here! I like "knowledgeable and experienced", and "competent" sounds pretty good too. On the other hand, I think there's room for a certain amount of ambiguity with the word "qualified" in English, i.e. you can say that (out of a number of people), one person is "best qualified" to do something (by reason of his/her experience, not necessarily formal qualifications).

You can also say someone is "well-qualified" (to do something, to speak ...).

You're quite right, Rad. Especially if you take it as 'paper qualifications'. On the other hand, you can say the same about 'fundovaný'. That's why there are two adjectives, one saying you know the ropes, the other one you do your best to help your customers. That's how I see it and that's why whatever description of being _skilled_ (perhaps another good solution) should be fine...

Is it really an appropriate term? It might be, as I'm not a native speaker, but I can be qualified but still crap in what I'm actually doing. Just my two cents.
