autotransfusion unit?

Explanation:
I found the following (unfortunately don't know more context to your text, but as BSP means blood saving protocol, autotransfusion unit seems to be related to the topic, hope it'll help):

Autotransfúzní jednotka (AJ)

Mezi hlavní činnosti autotransfusní jednotky patří separace trombocytů a plazmy od dobrovolných dárců a poskytování těchto transfuzních přípravků klinickým pracovištím- zejména pro zajištění náročného transplantačního programu IKEM, ale i pro jiná (i externí) oddělení. Dále odebíráme autotransfuze před plánovanými operacemi.
U indikovaných pacientů provádíme léčebné výkony (depleční erytracytaferézy, odběr periferních kmenových buněk apod.).

Example sentence(s):

agree  Emma Hradecka (X): Yes, there is a lot of co-occurence of "Bromsulphalein test" (or other laboratory tests) and "arbitrary unit" (on the Internet)

agree  Pavel Blann: a.u.

agree  Sarka Lhotak: Asi to bude ono. Z popisu testu (viz diskusni rubriku) bych si tipla, ze se to bude merit kolorimetricky, tj. intenzita zbarveni, a to by mohlo byt udano v arbitrarnich jednotkach, tj. relativni hodnoty vztazene napr k pocatecnim hodnotam apod.

and others

Explanation:
All the references to Sulfobromophthalein (BSP) seem to be hidden in inaccessible scientific journals! But usually 'a.j.' means 'a jiné' - 'and others' - maybe there were several sets of results before and after treatment.
Just a shot in the dark!

Hey it was only a wild guess (hence the 1) - you can lay off now - you're ruining my stats :)

Asker: I was thinking in a different direction - I thought it must be some kind of 'jednotky'. The same column of the table includes other units (depending on what is being measured), e.g. 'μkat/l'.

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
disagree  Michael Grant: I'm afraid I disagree -- I believe 'a jiné' is normally abbreviated 'aj.' (no logical explanation for the missing space, but the 'a' is not an abbreviation). Unfortunately I don't do med so I can't help with the actual question. :-(

disagree  Emma Hradecka (X): Sorry, but I really think it's some type of "jednotka" here.

Asker: Thanks - it's reassuring to know that AU has a recognised meaning in English (other than 'both ears together', which I found in Dorland).
