Google is no help here, any ideas or is there a proper word for it?

So never mind what the rest the world would call them :-) But you do have to keep the same expression once the client has begun using it in a series of texts.

Just telephoned the Royal Mint and they were VERY specific about the series being mentioned as thematic coins. I guess, I'll take their word for it, since this is not to do with a special event such as the queen's bithday etc.

It's a clear case of 'The client is always right' - that is obviously what the National Bank has decided to call them, and that is their decision.

Close but not quite there Commemorative is an option but not in this case, as it is the Royal Mint which is about to lauch a series of 'temamønter'.

Celebration coin

You can also find celebration coins, but honestly , I'd go for the commemorative coin. I think it is a generic term for collectors' items that are also legal tender, no matter what they depict.

I've just seen in our local paper that '"our" Frigate Jylland is to be featured on the new 20 kroner coin. (We can see the top of the mast from the house.)
