Bus/Financial - Law: Taxation & Customs
Danish term or phrase: afgiftspligtig person
This specifically refers to VAT.

For instance, language from a statute: "Enhver afgiftspligtig person skal for levering af varer og ydelser udstede en faktura til modtageren.

Of course a simple translation of afgiftspligtig person would be a "taxable person," however what other reasonable alternatives are there out there other than "taxable person," that would sound professional as if the Folketing wrote it?

neutral  Christopher Schröder: I'm liable to tax but not to VAT. My business is liable to VAT because it is a taxable person for VAT purposes. This suggestion isn't wrong, it's just not as good as the other suggestion IMO.

person (who is) liable for VAT

Explanation:
Can't really say "tax" because there's a difference between VAT (moms) and tax (skatt) of course.
This is how I would say it and have written it myself before at any rate.
