fødselsdagsselskab

English translation: birthday party

Danish to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Finance (general) / company investment
Danish term or phrase: fødselsdagsselskab
Bit difficult to give the context as there are many XXs because of names. XX erklaerede også, at han ved at *fødselsdagsselskab* havde fortald YY, at det var ham, der varetog Zs penge, hvilket Z skulle have vaeret meget glad for at høre.
Never heard of it and have no idea - advice much appreciated!

Thanks, Erling (and Christine - I agree), and sorry if it seemed a silly question. I was tired..;)

Asker: Thanks - but I don't see how that fits in with companies ripping each other off in terms of shares and wanting power, which is what this is about. Be great if you could explain how this fits in.

agree  Jande: birthday party, get together or event, seems to fit in fine in the sentance above. X also declared that at the birthday party he had told y that he had taken care of Z's money, which Z would have been happy to hear

agree  Christine Andersen: You could probably rephrase it as 'birthday reception' or 'dinner' or 'birthday celebrations'. A 'selskab' in this sense emphasises that is is a formal affair with dress etiquette and speeches, as opposed to the more ad hoc Russian way of celebrating.
