This term appears in an employment contract directly under another article relating to non-competition. The thrust of the 'relatiebeding' is clear, but I can't come up with the right US-English term to verify it. Anyone, oh esteemed colleagues, willing to enlighten this writer? Here's one definition:

"Ook een relatiebeding is erop gericht om de werknemer te beperken in zijn mogelijkheden om u te beconcurreren naar het einde van het dienstverband. In een relatiebeding is opgenomen dat de werknemer na de beëindiging van het dienstverband geen zakelijke contacten mag onderhouden met relaties van uw onderneming. Zorg ervoor dat u het begrip relaties duidelijk omschrijft en neem expliciet in het beding op dat het uw werknemer evenmin is toegestaan op initiatief van de relaties zelf zaken te doen met uw relaties."

Any non-competition agreement should, as an adjunct, contain a non-solicitation clause as well.
The non-solicitation clause prevents the employee, for a given period of time, from calling upon or soliciting business from the employer’s customers or clients.
This clause provides an extra layer of protection to the employer should a court refuse to enforce the non-competition clause or decide to reduce its scope.
A non-solicitation clause is especially useful in protecting against the harm which may be inflicted by employees in the customer service or sales fields, and directly prevents former employees from exploiting customer and client relationships developed with the employer’s time and resources.

You may be barred from soliciting clients, or indeed potential clients, from your ex-employer.
You may also find you are barred from poaching former colleagues after you leave.

"Non Dealing
A non-dealing clause would stop you from dealing in any way with clients of your ex-employer. A non dealing clause means that even if a client approaches you in your new employment, out of the blue, you would not be able to do business with them.
