According to Van Dale - Groot Woordenboek der Nederlandse Taal, adiëren in the context in which it is used here, means: "zich wenden tot". The non-technical meaning of the word includes: "gaan naar, op zich nemen", whereas the legal meaning ("m.b.t. een erfenis") is "aanvaarden".
"Adiate" would appear to be a non-existing English word, the Eurodicautom term bank notwithstanding.
