inconsistent marketing policy Explanation: Zwabberbeleid is a little stronger in Dutch, (you will find quite a few references in Dutch in newsarticles) than just inconsistent. Zwabberen is to mop from one side to the other, so . . . If the text warrants it, you could add a adjective such as 'extremely' or 'very' inconsistent policy. |

meandering marketing policy, erratic marketing policy Explanation: To repeat my answer to a previous similar question: The adjective "meandering" brings out the sense of loss and aimlessness, the lack of vision or strategic direction -- no "steady hand at the helm." "Erratic" puts the policy in a behavioral frame of reference and highlights its irrational nature. Other possible constructions that may serve as well, depending on the desired tone: "Flip-flop marketing policy" adds a bit of sarcasm, and brings out the sense of unpredictability. "Inconsistent" is OK, too, but I feel it is a bit too bland --no punch, no flavor-- and perhaps too dignified. Fuad |

libertine policy Explanation: Sorry to come back a second time on this! Willemina, but I really liked this one. I happened to come across it in my Van Dale under zwabber while looking for something else, and subsequently looked up the meaning in the Websters, which is morally unrestrained, if this suits your context! Regards, Marijke Van Dale N-E Websters Nerw Universal Unabridged Dict. |
