Dutch term or phrase: Petabyte
I've just looked in all my Kluwer dictionaries, but can't find a translation for this. I also asked a few friends, and none of them have ever heard of it.

Does the word "Petabyte" exist? I understand it's about as big as 1.5 million floppy disks...

Thanks,

Pikey

English translation:Petabyte
Explanation:
Petabyte is actually an English word, which is also used in Dutch. Yes, it is huge (think hundreds or even thousands of Gigabytes, I am not sure how much), but this is actually the kind of storage capacity companies are talking of now.
So Petabyte does not need to be translated.
Hope this helps,

A search with Goggle gave me 3,100 hits in English, therefore you can certainly leave it as it is!

I believe Petabyte is 1 million Gigabytes

Explanation:
A megabyte is 1 million bytes (actually 1048576 bytes)
A gigabyte is 1000 megabytes (actually 1024 megabytes)
A terabyte is 1 million megabytes (actually 1048576 megabytes)

A petabyte is 1000 terabytes (1024 terabytes)

Current PCs can have hard disks of about 150 gigabytes size.
So a petabyte is like having a PC with about 7000 of these disks.
