Dutch term or phrase: (nooit) wat wezen
Toen ik vroeg wat hij vond van Mikhail Boelgakov, trok hij zijn wenkbrauwen tot hoog boven zijn brilnontuur op.
Boelgakov, herhaalde ik.
"Nooit van gehoord, wie is het?"
Ik vertelde het hem.
"Als ik die man niet heb gelezen, dan kan het nooit wat wezen".

Думаю, это примерно означает "Если я его не читал, то значит, он ничего из себя не представляет", но не уверен.
