Dutch term or phrase: voorlopen
Does voorlopen mean preliminary work in the next sentence?

Het voorlopen van het werk door aannemer en directie zal in week 47 gebeuren.

the review
Explanation:

Dutch is my native language.

According to the excellent dictionary by Dr Jansonius (Nieuw Groot Nederlands-Engels Woordenboek, volume 3: Rep - Z),"voorlopen" means :
1) walk in front of somebody
2) gain (a clock; to win)
3) be an hour fast (een uur voorlopen).

I assume that there is an error in your text. It could read "overlopen", which means "the review". The enterpreneur and management will review work in week 47.

Explanation:
"The contractor and the management will review the work to be done in week 47"

This is how I would translate this sentence. I agree that it does have the sense of preliminary work.

Good luck!
