see underneath Explanation: That is because the comma's etc are missing. Voor wat betreft de kosten zou ik willen voorstellen de gemaakte afspraak, dat deze kosten verekend zullen worden via jullie facturatie, te handhaven. Ok now let's see if I can translate it.... Concerning the costs: I would like to suggest to maintain the existing procedure. Namely billing them via your invoicingsystem?? I have to say that the Dutch text is horrible. Is that maybe a translation from a third language? Hope it helps Elizabeth Live in US, Native Dutch |

to keep our agreement to take care of these expenses via your billing system Explanation: The Dutch sentence is far from elegant: "te handhaven" refers to "de gemaakte afspraak," and in between you read what the "afspraak" consists of. You may of course prefer a different choice of words in the English translation. I just jotted down a quick interpretation. Basically, the agreemnt says that "you" [whoever that is in the text] will take into account the expenses [made by???] when preparing bills/invoices. |

With respect to the costs, I would like to propose to act in conformance with the earlier agreement Explanation: With respect to the costs, I would like to propose to act in conformance with (or to maintain/to adhere to) the earlier agreement that said costs will be charged via your invoicing procedures. (I repeated the sentence as I'm not sure I would get it all in) I agree with my colleagues Elizabeth and Margriet that is horrible Dutch indeed, although all too common these days I'm afraid. |
