Bus/Financial
Dutch term or phrase: cijferaar
This is from a company doing analysis on annual reports. 'Een race tegen de klok, waarbij de cijferaars nog gehandicapt werden doordat sommige bedrijven erg laat hun jaarverslag publiceerden.'

In common parlance we call them number crunchers, but that has been used in the English, so I'm looking for a better word than 'calculators' for 'cijferaars'

bean counter or number cruncher

a cute word for a CPA, certified public accountant or number cruncher.

After giving it some more thought I went for "these 'number crunchers'", as they'd been referred to previously. I decided against 'bean counter' because it's a bit too disparaging! I'm not sure all the people working on this job are accountants, though - many people who work in accounts departments aren't accountants, but could be described as number crunchers.
