Reduction of working hours (ADV) Teachers in the Netherlands have been entitled to ADV (arbeidsduurverkoring = shorter working hours) since 1-8-1985. This means that a permanent teacher replaces the normal class teacher for a morning, a day or a week. Full-time teachers are entitled to 14 days ADV per school year.
