What's the best way to phrase this? Manage equipment assets? Seems to get a fair few hits, but I don't know enough about this sort of thing to be certain. Comes up in an interview with the head of a research centre on the subject of process management in the service sector.

Ziekenhuizen beheren ook een kapitaal aan materiaal. Is daarvoor speciale aandacht in het managen van processen?

“Materiaalbeheer is, naast de focus op de patiënt en ICT, een derde belangrijke pijler. Ziekenhuizen zien het niet als hun core business maar door een slordig beheer van materiaal kan heel wat geld verloren gaan. Je moet een goed zicht hebben op je voorraden en op de hoogte zijn van het nieuwste materiaal en de recentste producten, anders investeer je misschien in verouderd materiaal. Behalve stockbeheer is ook het distributiesysteem heel belangrijk om bijvoorbeeld niet de verkeerde medicatie aan een bepaalde patiënt toe te dienen. Ook die thema’s komen aan bod in onze onderzoeksprojecten.”
