Dutch to English translations [PRO] Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
Dutch term or phrase:wist men er wel raad mee (in context)
Profile of Flemish film director Dorothée Van den Berghe. I'm having trouble linking this sentence with the previous one. Possible translations of the latter being considered: 'Their bodies express what words cannot' / 'Their bodies communicate where words fail'. Any suggestions for the following sentence welcome.
OK, I'm obviously reading too much into it. I was thinking along the lines that whereas the film might not express something in words the Locarno jury had no such problem (i.e. weren't at a loss for words) in that the film got rave reviews. Too much caffeine perhaps...
Crionn - but don't you feel there's a linguistic link with the previous sentence, implicit in the word 'wel'? And why doesn't it surprise me that an Icelandic sex comedy might go down well in Edinburgh? Those Fringe-goers thrive on the exotic ;-)
