this is from a book review, so I'm afraid that my context is minimal.

neutral  Suzanne Jansen: It's usually simply narrator (or in drama: protagonist). As in this context it's on the whole not necessary to specify whether it's first or third person. Narrator on its own is also a lot more idiomatic!

  -> let's put it like this then: an ik-figuur is NEVER a third-person narrator. Still, I agree that this level of precision is usually not required for the types of text that contain the word "ik-figuur" ;)
