I am confused about the meaning of 'inmiddels'. My dictionary says 'meanwhile, in the meantime' but this does not seem to make sense to me in my sentences. Can anyone tell me whether there is another meaning for 'inmiddels'? I have two sentences with 'inmiddels', one in each of the paragraphs below.

De meerderheid van zowel de Turkse en Marokkaanse mannen als vrouwen haalt de partner uit het land van herkomst. Inmiddels is ongeveer 10% van de in Nederland woonachtige Turkse en Marokkaanse vrouwen in de leeftijd van 15 tot 65 jaar hier als huwelijksmigrant naar toegekomen.


Onder Turkse en Marokkaanse meisjes is de schooluitval de laatste jaren afgenomen.
In het vervolgonderwijs kunnen met betrekking tot de emancipatie van allochtone vrouwen positieve ontwikkelingen worden waargenomen. Vrouwen stromen inmiddels in gelijke mate of zelfs meer dan de mannen door naar mbo, hbo en wo.
