Context:

I am currently translating a Technical Specification list for a Belgian company, and am having trouble with the above term.

The sentence is as follows:

"De uitrusting zal voornamelijk bestaan uit een statische gelijkrichter/batterijlader, een statische wisselrichter en de benodigde overbruggingsschakelapparatuur".

I have heard of a "gelijkrichter" (rectifier), but cannot find a comparable translation for "wisselrichter" in my Kluwer.

Explanation:
"inverter" is correct, but perhaps not specific enough, unless the context makes it clear.
"richter" = rectifier, a device that transforms ac current into dc.
An inverted rectifier does the opposite.
