English term or phrase: Md. (name) Sof of late Mvi. Md. (name)
Hello,
I am looking for a colleague from Bangladesh who may be able to help me with the meaning of some abbreviations that appear on an official document.
Could you tell me what "Md." and "Mvi. Md." stand for in the above mentioned context? An explanation is already sufficient, I don't understand any Bengali anyway. :-) Therefore please answer also in English.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Tanja

Md. = Mohammad, and mvi = moulovi
Explanation:
Md. is the abbreviation of Mohammad and 'mvi' is the abbreviation of 'moulovi'. Both are commonly used abbreviations in Bangaladesh.

Both are actually part of a name. Mohammad is a name and is very commonly used among Muslims because this is the name of our Prophet. In Bangladesh it is abbreviated as Md. Moulovi is also a common name in Bangladesh and abbreviated as Mvi. Unlike western countries (where names usually have only two parts), our names contain 3/4 or more parts. So, for the sake of convenience, some parts are abbreviated like this.
