Sideloading is a term used in Internet culture, similar to "upload" and "download", but in reference to the process of transferring data between two local devices, in particular between a computer and a mobile device such as a cellphone, smartphone, PDA, or portable media player. Sideloading typically refers to media file transfer to a mobile device via USB, Bluetooth or by writing directly to a memory card for insertion into the mobile device.

A banda d'això, val la pena proposar els següents termes per a un registre més formal -considero que els termes que s'empren normalment, com "baixada de fitxers", etc, pertanyen a un registre informal. Els termes proposats serien, respectivament, "descàrrega", "càrrega" i "tràfega", del verb "trafegar", sinònim (culturalment no marcat) de "trasvassar". Es pot considerar la última opció com un cas de reutilització lingüística, justificat per un procés de metaforització del terme.
