The new reach-extended mode, together with a new generation of copper-fed remote mini-DSLAMs, is helping get DSL to places that had been off-limits. According to the DSL Forum, DSL availability in the United States has grown from approximately 60 percent of customers to 80 percent of customers in the past two years. British Telecom, for one, recently announced its plans to make DSL available to more than 99 percent of its customers using new technologies.
