"... Cijeli regulator za ronjenje sastoji se od prvog i drugog stupnja. Prvi stupanj ima zadatak reducirati pritisak iz boce na pritisak 9 bara. Tlak na izlazu iz prvog stupnja se mijenja ovisno o dubini ronjenja, tako da je tlak na izlazu iz prvog stupnja jednak zbroju 9 bara + pritisak okoline. Drugi stupanj koji još zovemo i oktopus se sam regulira na pritisak okoline prilikom čega omogućava roniocu nesmetano disanje.
