English term or phrase: control for (a variable)
Mám k dispozici dvě definice, samotný překladový kontext nestojí za řeč (poznámka pod čarou).

To control for a variable is to try to separate its effect from the treatment effect, so it will not confound with the treatment. There are many methods that try to control for variables. Some are based on matching individuals between treatment and control; others use assumptions about the nature of the effects of the variables to try to model the effect mathematically, for example, using regression.

Definition of Control For: As used in the following way: "The effect of X on Y disappears when we control for Z", the phrase means to regress Y on both X and Z, together, and to interpret the direct effect of X as the only effect. Here the effect of Z on X has been "controlled for". It is implied that X is not causing changes in Z.

Věděl by někdo, jak se tomu přesně říká? Díky.

agree  rosim: v daném kontextu je to velmi výstižné; pokud by to nemělo být tak rezolutní, lze vliv jen potlačit
