English term or phrase: ill-posed problem

For an ill-posed problem one must introduce some additional assumptions in order to get a stable solution.

(Forklaring) But such problems often turn out to be ill-posed, having no solution, or a non-unique solution, and/or an unstable solution.

Explanation:
Bare et forslag.
Antyder noget lidt mere grundlæggende galt end blot "stillet" - og at der virkelig er brug for yderligere "additional assumptions in order to get a stable solution".
