teowijzen/toekennen. (jur) overdragen, afstaan, cederen (eigendom, rechten) Explanation: The word can have different meanings in Dutch. 1° toewijzen, toekennen: to give something to a person, to appoint someone to a position or a task 2° juridical context: to formally transfer property or rights to another person Reference: http://www.duhaime.org/dict-a.htm |

"toekennen" Explanation: The general translation of "assign" is "toekennen", which would defnitely make sense in a legal contract I guess. |

beteken, dagen, dagvaarden Explanation: To translate "assign" into Dutch is as difficult a task as to translate "snow" into greenlandish (there are at least 63 possible translations, only one is right!!! Which one is depending on the qualities of the snow!!!). I strongly suggest that the whole paragraph in which the word "assign" appears is posted!!! |
