The various sites (including Armineh's comments on "dual lane") have demonstrated that "dual lane" and "double lane" do not mean the same in English. But I think she has enough options to choose from to express the difference correctly in Persian.

In Iran, "dobande" means dual lane OR double lane as each "band" corresponds to a lane. To me, the meanings of dual and double do not differ.

Three entries after this one is "dual lane". It seemed that they might be the same thing...I was trying to clarify. In USA usage they are not the same thing. But in a number of sites around the world that I Googled they seem to be interchangeable.

Can you clarify what "dobande" would mean to a driver in Iran?

But the term in question is "double land" not "dual double lane."

In general, dual lane means a road of two lanes, one going and one coming.
Also, in general double lane means a road with two lanes going in the same direction.
Thus a "dual double lane" road would have two lanes going and two lanes coming.
However, in Googling these terms the usage is not 100% consistent around the world.
Any comments?
