Dans le domaine automobile, on parle de sous-traitant, d'équipementier et de systémiers.
Dans le domaine informatique, on garde généralement le terme OEM, et ce d'autant plus que l'existence de standards (ATX, connectique comme PCI, IDE, SATA, USB…) rend la substitution aisée.
