During a five-minute *mulling period*, 152 milliliters of deionized water was added to the alumina/ammonium-ferrierite mixture. Next, a mixture of 6.8 grams glacial acetic acid, 7.0 grams of citric acid and 152 milliliters of deionized water was slowly added to the alumina/ammonium-ferrierite mixture in the muller to peptize the alumina. The resulting alumina/ammonium-ferrierite/acid mixture was *mulled*for 10 minutes.
