Reboot the PC
When you have problems shutting down and rebooting, try restarting the PC and choose the ‘Last Known Good Configuration’ option. This feature enables you to load the last working version of Microsoft Windows. To load the last known good configuration in Windows XP, reboot the computer. As the PC starts up, press and hold the F8 key – this should bring up the Windows Advanced Options Menu as shown below. Use the arrow keys on your PC keyboard to select Last Known Good Configuration and press the Enter key.
If when shutting down you need to stop a shut down, you can click the Cancel button before the shut down process begins. However, there’s no point hitting any other key once the shut down is in process.

s'il vous faut annuler l'arrêt en cours de l'ordinateur
C'est vrai que ça se corse pour éviter une répétition. J'hésite entre dire l'arrêt en cours de l'ordinateur ou l'arrêt de l'ordinateur en cours. A mon avis ça change pas grand chose.
