Bearing upon 13:32 Nov 6, 2019
Bearing upon means relating to. Evidence that bears on X is evidence that relates to X (helps prove or disprove X).
Sylvie, the number of questions you've asked about this text makes me think you might have an easier time of it if you undertook some more training. Legal translation involves specialized vocabulary and an understanding of how the legal system works. There are classes in that, and in France they're not that expensive. You could register for a DEUG in law through CNED, not to take the exams and get the DEUG but just to get all the study materials -- that would only be a few hundred euros I think.
And please don't take this personally. There are lots of questions on this board (not to mention, wrong answers to those questions) about legal, medical and other specialized terminology that make it clear that many translators are working in fields that they really should get more training in first. |
