la source du dossier (judiciaire)

Explanation:

disagree  Eliza Hall: DBS reports on criminal records, but also on job dismissals caused by the employee's having harmed someone (e.g. teacher fired for hitting a student). So the record may simply be an employer's report that this person was fired for that reason.

disagree  Daryo: "la source ..." If you mean that the DBS report is based on ONLY one source - not correct // " ... du dossier" not correct either - in this ST "source of the record" is about the origin of the information in just ONE entry, NOT the whole file.

Notes to answerer

'The DBS reserves the right to add new data sources. For the most up to date list of data sources searches, please visit the DBS's website'.

Reference: Types [and sources] of DBS Checks

Reference information:

- Police National Computer (PNC) information [a system that stores and shares criminal records information across the UK] Standard and enhanced DBS certificates will include details of convictions and cautions (which include youth cautions, reprimands and warnings) recorded on the PNC. PNC information relating to protected cautions and convictions will be filtered and will not appear on the certificate.

- In addition to information from the PNC, it may also include information taken from police records that a chief officer of a police force considers relevant to the application and ought to be disclosed, or details of whether an individual is included on one or both of [DBS] two lists barring people from working with children and/or vulnerable adults.

Stages of the DBS checking process
Stage 1 - Application form received and validated : The application form is checked for errors or omissions. The form is either scanned onto the DBS system or returned for correction to the countersignatory within 24 hours of receipt.
Stage 2 - Police National Computer (PNC) searched : Key data from the application form is compared against details from the Police National Computer (PNC) to search for any matches.
Stage 3 - Children and adults’ barred lists searched (where applicable)
Key data from the application form is compared against barred lists to search for any matches.
Stage 4 - Records held by the police searched
Enhanced checks are sent by secure, electronic means to the police for an additional check of records before the information is sent back to the DBS… To make sure potential matches are not missed, those police forces will check the details against their information.
Stage 5 - DBS certificate printed
