courrier escargot Explanation: Heheh! Snail mail was an expression coined to compare regular mail with electronic mail. Of course, it is a LOT slower, therefore seems to go at the pace of a snail by comparison. Also, the two words rhyme, so it was a "natural". Snail mail. Nice sound to it. Plus the fact that, at least here in Canada, it seems to go slower and slower. What used to take two days in the good old days now takes a week. In French, of course, you don't have the same rhyme, so it doesn't go quite as well.
