English term or phrase: trademark "TM"
I would like to know the proper convention for translating trademark "TM". I have a text where a patented product is mentioned throughout, it has "TM" attached to it. Should it remain the same as in the source language(i.e.English) or should it be translated in French "MD"(marque deposee) even though the product name it's attached to is in English and will remain in English in the translation? Any references on this subject would greatly be appreciated.

TM or MC
Explanation:
The rule is as follows:
1. TM = MC (marque de commerce), not MD = marque déposée (®)
2. Do not translate unless you are certain that the trademark exists in French. For example, many products imported into Québec from the US still bear the TM because they were registered in the US, not in Québec.
