English term or phrase: rhBMP = Bone Morphogenic Protein
"recombinant human Bone Morphogenic Protein"...
abbrev. rhBMP : do I translate it into French, or keep the 'English' abbreviation as in German?
Also, why are r and h lowercase and BMP in capitals?
Thanks in advance...

Explanation:
I am sure that if you write it the English way, readers to whom it is addressed will understand it, since they must check the publications and often get reprints in English. In French, it is common to find in French texts the use of hGH (human growth hormone) or FSH (Folliculin Stimulating Hormone) etc...
Just as for acronyms in endocrinology, the international nomenclature referring to the names themselves uses capital letters in this case "BMP" and lower case letters for the reference to the species (human) and such.

Hope this helps

Gène de Morphologie Osseuse humaine sur ADN recombinant

Explanation:
I willingly omit "protein" because it seems to be assumed in french that "gène" is protein made
