A word on its own at the top of a list of software messages I have to translate from English into French. Here is the beginning of this list:

Again in keeping with the idea that this software controls the process of fabricating circuit boards, this would mean that components are now being soldered on the board (or chip). In this case, the translation is straightforward.

The only problem would be to decide whether you want a verb (souder) or a noun (soudure). Since this is a command for the machine to do something, I would be partial to using the verb.

However, it may also mean that the software will then ask you to choose between different soldering materials, in which case, you should use the noun.

Or you could also use the noun if you prefer to use the word in the sense of "proceed with the soldering".
