So, the sentence should read: "The unique size and form-factor of the ZFP-3F (a mobile printer)are perfect for...". The whole sentence could then be translated as follows: "À cause de sa taille et de sa forme particulières, l'imprimante ZFP-3F (portative) peut très bien s'installer entre les deux sièges avant d'une voiture de police bondée". A second translation possibility would be: "Étant donné sa taille et son ergonomie particulières, l'imprimante ZFP-3F (portable) peut très bien...". My preference between "forme" and "ergonomie" to translate "form-factor" goes to "forme" because it is simpler. |

L'encombrement et la forme exclusifs Explanation: l'utilisation de "form-factor" est à mon avis un artifice de langage pour renforcer le sens du mot forme. "Form-factor" sonne en effet très scientifique et technique (c'est en effet un terme technique), c'est assez prisé dans le domaine commercial. Pour tenir compte de cette volonté d'accentuation de la spécificité de cette imprimante, je vous suggère de traduire "unique" par "exclusif" très à la mode en matière de publicité. De même "encombrement" fait plus sérieux que taille. Dans le même souci de renforcer le sens, vous pourriez également dire : "l'encombrement et la forme spécialement étudiés", c'est une formule aussi en vogue dans ce domaine. own reflexion starting from this sample text |
