the rendering of my learned Colleague, i.e. 'Brut von Grillen' is absolutely accurate, the alternative I am offering is perhaps slightly more 'readable' as a literary piece:
Die Kinder lärmen und toben im Schulhof in der Morgensonne wie ein Schwarm frisch ausgeschlüpfter Grillen.
