English term or phrase: mushroom management
This appears in the following sentence (with some context):

Get your staff involved and they will take care of your budget for you - then it's their baby too.
Leave them in the dark - so-called *mushroom management* - and they will rip your budget to shreds just for the sheer fun of it.

Does anyone know a proper german financial term for this kind of management?

Any help is appreciated!

wohlwollende Gleichgültigkeit
Explanation:
There is no business or financial term for "mushroom management". The author is having fun, the reference being to mushrooms in the cellar, that grow in the dark. There is no direct way of translating this to gGerman. You will have to author it yourself.

The best suggestion I can come up with is the German translation of "benign indifference", i.e. "Lassen Sie Ihre Mitarbeiter im Dunkeln - Management nach dem Prinzip der 'wohlwollenden Gleichgültigkeit' - und sehen Sie was diese mit Ihrem Budget anfangen".

Have fun inventing something along these lines.

Thank you for the hint. As this is in a book and I really think that the author does have fun throughout I think this is what I need. :-))

"Champignon-Management"

Explanation:
"Mushroom Management" = "Champignon-Management" means keep your personnel in the dark, dump manure all over them and when one of them sticks her/his head up, chop it off.

"Helicopter Management" means the boss quickly arrives on the scene from above with lots of noise and wind, agitates everything and everyone and then takes off just as quickly as he/she arrived.

This is similar to "Hippopotamus Management", the primary difference is the direction from which the boss arrives.

"Hippopotamus Management" means "auftauchen, Maul aufreißen und wieder verschwinden"
