GC repos
"In the case of a general collateral repo, known as a GC repo, the buyer accepts all securities of a particular quality, which are assembled in a basket. For commercialbanks, the move away from unsecured money market instruments into loans collateralized by highly rated quality securities means a huge reduction in lending risks and costly credit rating procedures.
A GC repo is a money market instrument, where provision of liquidity is very important."
This development (Ref. 1) is new to me, I don´t know anything it except what I am finding here, but this may help you.
Then again, at the rather less impressive Ref. 2 I find "Repos are classified as a money-market instrument. They are usually used to raise short-term capital.". But that´s not quite what you are looking for, is it?
The Swiss thing looks interesting though.

: The context is ok, but a GC repo does not necessarily have to involve UK Gilts (Eurex Repo trades EUR & CHF repos only)

Steffen knows what a gilts repo is, I was having a shot at elucidating GC repos, though they are new to me.

Repurchase Agreement (REPO, RP)
Gabler: Agreement bw. seller and buyer, usually of U.S. governm. securities, whereby seller agrees to repurchase the securities at an agreed upon price and, usually, at a stated time. REPOS, also called RPs or buybacks, are widely used both as a money market investment vehicle and as an instrument of Federal Reserve.
