Notes to answerer

neutral  D. I. Verrelli: Seems generally reasonable. But I would take pains to avoid "signifikant", as this has two primary meanings (viz. "practically important" and "surpassing a statistical threshold") that have not been mentioned in the source text.

ein großer Absorptionsfehler (d.h. Unsicherheit des Absorptionswert[e]s) wurde eingeführt

Explanation:
I am inclined to try a passive construction that nevertheless indicates that the error occurred due to the action [by the scientists] of applying a (putative) correction.

"Absorptionsfehler" can occasionally be found in scientific publications from respected publishers, along with "Absorptionskorrektur" and so on.

In scientific communication I can imagine "absorption error" being an expression used for brevity in place of "an error in the absorption value/estimate" (thus, optionally "Absorptionswert").
So far as I can tell, the authors don't really know precisely what the error is; rather, they are referring more to uncertainty — hence "Unsicherheit" — based upon the calculated standard deviations ("Standardabweichungen").

N.B. Duden apparently allows both "des Werts" and "des Wertes", although the latter gets more internet hits. https://www.duden.de/rechtschreibung/Wert
