Es gibt auch etliche Beispiele zu finden per Google, in denen der Begriff so etwas wie "häßlich machen" bedeutet. Taucht auch im dt.sprachigen Zusammenhang auf, deshalb würde ich je nach Zielgruppe das Wort stehen lassen und (evtl. in Klammern) eine Erläuterung anfügen, z.B.
